Theres even an app to help you get the most out of the mountains Rhine Gorge Tour Distance 85.8km Time 9hrs Difficulty difficult One of several itineraries in Switzerlands own Grand Canyon this day- long circuit goes above Prau Tuleritg along wide paths with gentle rises through the beautiful Flims forest passing Conn and Rens before reaching the Caumasee and then returning to the start point in Flims Waldhaus. RIDE THIS WAY SEVEN MAGNIFICENT MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDES Hrnlihtte - Lenzerheide Distance 19.3km Time 2hrs 30mins Difficulty moderate Steep ascents challenging single tracks and awesome descents characterise this route from Arosa to Lenzerheide. After the uphill section via Carmennahtte up to the Hrnlihtte riders are rewarded with a glorious freeride descent of over 1000m. Bernina Express Distance 43km Time 3hrs Difficulty moderate This route links the Engadin with the Valposchiavo. It leads through several climatic zones crosses the backbone of the Alps and offers dramatic views of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rhaetian Railway line. The finish is in Poschiavo a town with a distinctly Mediterranean feel. Davos Valley Tour Distance 25.3km Time 2hrs 30mins Difficulty easy This scenic tour is particularly well suited for families and beginners as it offers great views and plenty of refreshment stops along the way. The uphill sections are all gentle and most of the tracks are easy to negotiate for riders of all skill levels. GET THE APP Heavens Door Distance 27.4km Time 3hrs 30mins Difficulty difficult A demanding ride to Europes highest place of pilgrimage Ziteil at 2433m. A visit to the church here is well worth the effort as the giant window looks out on an exceptional panorama over the Surses. The climb is followed by a technically difficult descent making this a richly varied trip for experienced riders. SEVEN MAGNIFICENT MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDES CONTINUED Freeride Trail Alp Trida Distance 6.2km Time 1hr Difficulty easy This fun trail takes you from the Alp Trida down to Samnaun Laret. Take the cable car up to the start point its free with the Samnaun guest card. From the mountain station of the double-decker train you reach the Alp Trida on the Flow Trail. Here the freeride trail starts on the Alpweg. Val Mora Distance 23km Time 3hrs Difficulty moderate A classic ride in Val Mstair with a touch of the Canadian wilderness about it. Val Mora is an untouched valley visited only by hikers and bikers and considered one of the finest in Switzerland with views of peaks and waterfalls. You can also start from Ssom Giv and use the short but beautiful track up by Buffalora as a warm-up. GET SOME PARKLIFEGraubnden has two bike parks offering amazing variety for bikers of all stripes. In the Skill Center Lenzerheide take big jumps with soft landings on the Big Air Bag. Flims Bike Park has pump tracks and skill areas with great training opportunities. GRAUBNDEN CYCLING ROAD TRY THESE CLASSIC CLIMBS Passo Bernina Distance 36km Ascent 1887m Difficulty difficult This route starts just over the Italian border in Tirano. After a steepish start theres a flatter section for about 8km before a sharp climb a short descent at 19km and a short sharp climb at 22km followed by a long steady uphill to the top of the pass. Passo Flela Distance 13km Ascent 829m Difficulty moderate Start from Davos and follow the route of a steady climb featured in the 2011 Tour of Switzerland. You can also make this climb a bit tougher by starting in Susch adding an extra 130m of vertical over the same distance Chur to Arosa Distance 31.4km Ascent 1146m Difficulty moderate The Arosa climb starts steeply and eases up for a longer mid-section before a even steeper finish. This scenic climb featured in the 2012 Tour of Switzerland. Alp Anarosa Distance 15km Ascent 1403m Difficulty difficult Some strenuous climbing from the start in Zillis and an overall average gradient of 9.3 makes this a challenge for strong legs.
