The Giro Aspect is pretty unconventional in its aesthetics, which is fine by us – it’s a departure from the usual racer style angular looks, opting instead for a more rounded, soft appearance.

The removable visor is potentially a handy addition although I personally found it annoying enough to remove, as I ride for the scenery more than for the sport and found it getting in the way of the view.

The Roc Loc Air fit system secures the Aspect to your head without any fuss and comfort is dealt with by the soft heathered webbing and ultrasuede interior and chin padding.

The broad wind vents allow plenty of air to circulate in and around your head and weight rivals some of the more purposeful race helmets at 242 grams for the medium version.

The Aspect is available in six different colours, we opted for the glowing red. Most of the other colours available are far more subtle and sombre but we think that the red compliments the shape well and certainly makes you stand out on the road.

The price is a bit of a shock at £140 – we feel possibly too much for your average recreational rider, although if you hunt around the internet you may be able to pick it up for around £100.

If you’re looking for a cycle helmet with Giro’s renowned design and quality but want something a little different aesthetically then it’s well worth considering the Aspect.
