The Arc’teryx name is synonymous with quality and performance and the Tenquille softshell hoody is no exception.

The cut feels like a tailor has custom made the garment especially for us yet it still has articulation in all the right places and never feels like it pulls at you when you’re moving around.

You feel a moderate amount of heat retention with the Tenquille on but rarely get overheated thanks to its excellent breathability properties and the air permeable fabric panel vents under the arms.

It’s also a pretty decent windbreaker, allowing just enough wind through the fabric to feel well ventilated but not cold.

The details in the stitching and seams are superb and there’s a minutely thin taped seam – typical of Arc’teryx to be always pushing the performance envelope - running around the shoulder and hood area.

Water beads off the jacket nicely in light showers and the well-designed hood gives you extra warmth and wind protection as well as a bit of extra protection from rain.

The Tenquille packs up to a nice small size and is pretty featherweight at only 290g.

Worn as a top layer in warmer weather, or under a water-proof shell as a mid layer, the Arc’teryx Tenquille has become the go-to soft shell for us for pretty much any activity you can throw at it.
