Finisterre say "The Litus is a highly technical waterproof cunningly disguised as a casual jacket" which sounds perfect for anyone in need of a jacket to cover all aspects of active travel.
Lightweight and breathable Pertex Eco Shield fabric with partly recycled nylon and a C6 DWR coating (which produces less harmful by-products than C8 DWR) will go some way to offsetting the carbon footprint of your journeying.
But does the Pertex keep you dry? The Eco Shield membrane is rated with a 10,000mm hydrostatic head and Finisterre have fully taped the seams on the Litus. Where its technical credentials fall down slightly is on the relatively low 7000g breathability.
This shouldn't count too heavily against the Litus, as it isn't designed for running up mountains. That much is clear from the style of the jacket, and in the context of an active/travel crossover piece, that is where its strength lies.
Finisterre claim "the contemporary wearable style means you'll want to wear it everywhere, rain or shine" and we're inclined to agree. Finisterre have achieved that elusive balance, usually reserved for high-end fashioned designers, of making a very simple piece of clothing look timeless and stylish. A great tailored cut, with room for layering, and more than a nod to their heritage and the sou westers worn by generations of Cornish fishermen.
This could be a perfect active/travel balance for someone who only wants to take one jacket on their travels, and at £150 is exceptional value.
