A slightly more modern approach than Fjallraven normally offer
Lack of handwarmer pockets

The Keb is a lightweight, year-round fleece with few bells or whistles, save for shoulders reinforced with weatherproof G1000 fabric (a surprisingly unobtrusive addition). The kind of item which is a staple in everyone's outdoor wardrobe. It is intended by Fjallraven as both a 'trekking' piece and an 'everyday outdoor' piece, which pretty much sums up its versatility.

It was a while before we discovered this fleece is 22% wool. There's no discernible weight penalty, and the construction is so fine and tightly woven that you'd never guess. But it speaks to Fjallraven's desire to have heritage and tradition present in all they do.

The Keb range is their nod towards progress, with more modern styling and features, and this fleece is no exception - hence our assumption it was polyester, despite the super-soft feel. The style is certainly progressive, with a very trim, athletic fit, close-fitting hood and minimalism all round - including a lack of handwarmer pockets, which is the biggest flaw in something that might see everyday use.

The weight is ideal for a versatile fleece - it may not be the warmest in winter (although the wool adds a little extra there), but it certainly won't be stored away come summer.

The most impressive thing is that after several months use (and washing) it still looks brand new. No pilling, no loss of colour and no loss of shape. So while the price tag is hefty, it doesn't lose too many points for value.

Bridging timeless tradition and modern insulation, a functional all-rounder that will stand up to the regular use you'll inevitably want to give it, this is an almost-perfect example of a 'must-have' outdoor item.
