In warmer weather good technical shorts are an indispensable bit of kit for the avid outdoors person.

The Rohan Convey shorts use classic combat styling married with technical fabric and a smart but casual cut, making them as good a casual short for the café terrace as they are for hiking in the Alps in the summer.

The Convey shorts feel very light and comfortable to wear and the fabric breathes well, being a 50-50 blend of cotton and polyester – Rohan’s own Airlight fabric first introduced in the classic ‘Bags’ walking trousers of the 70’s. This fabric has been proven to be durable to the point where people are still wearing Rohan Bags trousers 20 years on, so we have absolutely no concerns about these shorts expiring early.

You can really feel the effects of the ‘minimum layer construction’ in these shorts which is Rohan’s way of saying that the fabric is minimalist. Weight has been kept down to a paltry 265g and the shorts will pack down into a 500ml pack size – about the size of a small water bottle.

The two front hand pockets have been slightly stitched up at the top, this allows free movement of hands in and out but provides that little bit of protection against stuff falling out – a feature that we’ve found to work very well. There are an additional two patch pockets on the front and two further pockets at the back, one of which is zipped for extra security.

Drying time on the shorts is okay, although the Conveys won’t usually dry as quickly as a pair of Nylon shorts.
