Highlights of Ramblers’ Winter Spirit programme include snowshoeing in Andorra, a Balkan winter warmer in rural Serbia that involves winter walking and/or snowshoeing, and a one-week Italian cross-country skiing adventure in the Dolomites. Its offerings in the Austrian Tirol include cross-country skiing in the Stubai Valley and even downhill skiing in Ried, with its access to six ski areas.

Turkey also figures in the Ramblers’ plans with snowshoeing and winter walking in the snow-capped beauty of Cappadocia. The base for this holiday in central Turkey is Urgüp – where most of the homes are hewn from solid rock. For more see ramblersholidays.co.uk

Following demand from its summer walking tour customers, Exodus is offering snowshoeing tours in Turkey, Iceland and Scandanavia this winter, as well as trips in the French Alps and Albania. Other trips in the winter brochure include cross-country skiing in France and the High Tatras mountains of Northern Slovakia.

For those in search of a demanding winter sports challenge, the company is offering entries to the Transjurassienne Ski Race. This 50km mass participation cross-country race in the French Jura Mountains attracted a field of over 3000 international skiers last year and is one of the most popular events in the sport’s racing calendar.

Exodus’ winter tours also include new trips in the Baltics, Transylvania and Finland, as well as cross-country ski ‘skating’ courses in the Italian Dolomites. See exodus.co.uk
