Area 47, the self-styled 'ultimate outdoor playground' in the Austrian Alps at the entrance to the Otztal Valley, has added to its already impressive adventure sports offering with a new two-hectare wakeboarding lake this May.

With five masts and a lift distance of 420m, the cable system can tow up to six wakeboarders at a time around the purpose-built lake.

Aimed at wakeboarders of all standards there will be coaching for beginners as well as a variety of kickers and boxes for experts to perform tricks and jumps off. Spectators will be able to enjoy the stunts - and wipeouts - from the roof terrace of the new Wake Café.

The Wake Area is the latest addition to Area 47 Adventure Park, which is quickly establishing itself as one of the best outdoor activity destinations in Europe.

Activities at the park already include rafting, canyoning, a 20,000 m2 water park with a giant slide, a freestyle-jump, a slackline park, sports trampolines, a cliff diving training facility, a 'deep water soloing' climbing wall, as well as the highest high ropes garden and climbing wall in Austria, a 27m high rope swing, a zip line, an indoor offroad track, river surfing and more!
