walking with the woundedPrince Harry has been named as the patron of a race that sees wounded servicemen trekking to the South Pole.
The Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge 2013 will see three teams – one from the UK, one from the US and one from the Commonwealth – braving the inhospitable elements of Antarctica.

The teams will overcome the harsh conditions, and their own injuries, with the aim of being the first team to the pole in an expedition that will last around three weeks. Each team will be captained by a celebrity and ITV are planning to make a three-part documentary and a book about the race is due to be published too.

Walking With The Wounded is a charity that seeks to show how disabled servicemen can achieve amazing things and be an inspiration. In 2011, Prince Harry joined four wounded servicemen trekking to the North Pole. A documentary Harry’s Arctic Heroes was shown on BBC1.
