Snowdonia boasts some of the best and most varied rock climbing in the world. One of the UK’s best crags, Clogwyn Du’r Arddu (Cloggy), lies on the north flank of Snowdon, while the nearby dramatic cliffs of the Llanberis Pass represent a rock climber’s playground.

Plas-y-Brenin, the National Mountain Centre based in Capel Curig, which has indoor climbing and training walls, offers an all-ages taster day in climbing, while Beacon Climbing Centre offers a 90-minute taster session in a dedicated beginners’ area, which is part of its 1,000sqm of indoor walls. Seren Ventures offers a two-day activity-packed introduction course for which no previous experience is necessary. Ultimate High offers bespoke courses for all levels, as well as
alpine guiding.

Price: Plas-y-Brenin taster days from £12, Seren Ventures course from £140 pp.
