If you’re after a small, lightweight and basic headtorch that’s easy to pack away and travel with the Petzl Zipka is a good option.

Upgraded from last year it’s now twice as powerful with an 80 lumen beam at maximum capacity which extends as far as 50-metres with a burn time of 120 hours.

The design is ultra-compact to make it easy to carry and wear, and Petzl's exclusive adjustable and retractable cord allows the torch to be worn on your head, on your wrist or attached to a tent pole, seat post etc.

The Zipka has several proximity lighting modes for different situations including a mode with a wide, comfortable beam for close-range vision and a mode with a wide beam, which allows movement over short distances.

The torch is very easy to use with a push-button for easy, quick lighting mode selection and a useful phosphorescent reflector which allows it to be located in the dark when it’s turned off.

Weight is just 68g, the torch runs on three AAA batteries (included) and it is weather resistant so you can wear it safely in rain and snow.

So if you’re after a basic but versatile little head torch at a budget price the Zipka is well worth checking out.
