Baggy shorts in the summer months can add a another layer of warmth where it isn't wanted, so it is always a pleasure to find alternatives that use the warm weather as an opportunity to lighten up for unhindered pedalling with the bonus of effective ventilation.

The Gore Trail Lights are just that. With superlight fabrics and a great fit - not too loose and not too tight - they are wonderfully light and airy on the bike. In fact we found it very easy to just forget they were on, and with the addition of large mesh panels around the waist, upper and lower thigh areas they really did flush air through constantly for very effective cooling on warmer days out on the hill. As such they are definitely for summer use only, but they cover that purpose very well indeed.

Gore claim spray protection on the crotch and inner thigh, and we did find a benefit from that through some light puddle splashes, but these are by no means a poor weather short.

2 zipped thigh pockets make up the otherwise spartan design, but that is what we loved about them - they have a really clean design and that results in a plain, cool pair of shorts that is thoroughly at home when cross country riding in the summer months. Get them in black as we had, or 'jazzy pink' to spice up your outfit.
