In Rab's words, the Hueco cords have been created 'for nights spent by the fire, for morning walks into the hills.' And from the first try-on it's obvious their hill-born heritage is all over these pants.

It's easy to forget that corduroy was once a go-to outdoor fabric. The ribbed material can trap air and therefore offer thermal benefits, and it's highly resistant to wear. And Rab have added some modern developments to this list of useful properties; firstly their obvious skill in manufacturing, utilising twin needle stitched seams and branded riveting to complement the standard hardy construction they're known for.

But Rab's design and fabric experience are what makes the Hueco Cords ideal for the active traveller; on the design front the addition of a diamond crotch gusset, more usually associated with climbing pants, is a great aid to dynamic movement. And the comfort that affords is further enhanced by a great deal of stretch in the corduroy fabric, and the unexpected touch of articulated knees.

So by adding a couple of design tweaks to a countryside classic, Rab have created a pair of cords that can take you on a fairly strenuous hike, and still keep you comfortable on a long journey. Best of all, they also look great down the pub. Perfect versatility for the active traveller.
