Shallow side pockets

As the name suggests you get 12 litres of storage in the Velocity 12 pack. This is spread across a main compartment complete with a sleeve for the all-important hydration bladder and a deep zipped front pocket. There's a handy helmet pouch at the front for safe storage during off-bike exploration and there's also a lashing point for an extra LED light - safety first!

Available in an array of colours from dark to bright the Velocity 12 is probably best suited to the lime green on test and the strips of reflective detailing not only identify the Velocity as a cycling pack but also gives it that extra boost of low light visibility.

The shallow side mesh pockets don't look particularly secure, but the tight elastic topper successfully holds water bottles firmly in place and there's even a neat little elasticated slide lock loop within one of the pockets which is perfect for securing a pump to.

Thickly padded foam on either side of the back of the pack creates a cooling air channel along the spine and makes this a nice, comfortable pack to wear. The shoulder straps lack padding but we haven't found this to be a problem considering such light loads. Obligatory hipbelt and sternum straps ensure that the Velocity doesn't float around too much in use.

The Velocity benefits from a rain cover stashed into a pocket right at the base of the bag - this is easily removable if you expect good weather and would prefer to save the weight and you're also left with a handy bit of extra storage space afterwards.

Don't get hung up on the 'cycling specific' nature of the pack, although it has a number of great cycling specific features there's absolutely no reason not to chuck anything you want into this bag for hiking, canoeing or anything else you can think of.

The WOW price of £40 makes the Velocity 12 compellingly good value in a world where prices are rising into the stratosphere for good quality kit from respected brands. Couple that with well thought out storage and good build quality and you really can't go wrong with the Velocity 12.
