The bargain price is difficult to argue with!
Not hugely versatile, but aimed at good weather hiking

Using Columbia's Omni-Wick and Omni-Shade fabrics for protection from sun and sweat puts these cargo pants firmly in the 'warm weather' category which is great for travel.

They also boast a very lightweight and airy material which combined with the 50 UPF sun protection offers a very cool and comfy micro-climate when the mercury rises.

A loose and unrestrictive fit plus gusset detail for movement, all add to that suitability in the heat.

The down side of this is they're not brilliantly suited to anything else. The fabric is light enough to appear vulnerable, and does very little to repel moisture, even the dew off long grass.

The loose fit can be pleasant in the heat, but its ultimate shapelessness may put some people off, and the velcro-secured pockets feel a little on the 'budget' side.

But that's the point of the Silver Ridge Cargo pants - they come at a bargain price. They may be a one-trick pony, but they have the features to excel in the climate they're designed for. And if they don't excel elsewhere, who cares for under £50?

As long as your travel plans are focussed on chasing the sun, these pants will leave enough money left over to fill their myriad pockets.
