Terrific fit and luxuriously soft fabrics
Pricey for something that doesn't offer that much protection.

Based on a luxuriously thick and stretchy Italian Roubaix type material, we really enjoyed wearing the full length zipped Giro Chrono jersey over the cooler months of the year. For the UK, spring and autumn were its regular stomping ground as an outer layer, with anything seriously cold needing a wind blocking outer shell to keep us comfortable on chilling descents or early morning departures. It fulfilled those jobs admirably, both as an outer layer and cosy mid-layer.

As an outer layer the stretchy fabric really comes into its own, providing a wonderfully close fit while allowing plenty of airflow to shed moisture from sweat. In cool, but not cold, conditions this is a definite advantage for comfortable riding as it prevents any clammy sweat build up. The traditional three pockets at the back are supportive even with a decent load pushed in and the soft collar and silicon printed elastic hem both do their job well. Neoprene cuffs grip our wrists gently but securely.

Under a shell we found we could ride to well under freezing level, with the thick insulating fabric trapping plenty of air to keep the heat in. The form fitting cut sits well under even the sleekest of shell jackets, so overall it is a great addition to our road wardrobe for the colder months. The only downside is the price - it's undeniably expensive for the level of protection you get but, that said, you really can't fault the fit and quality if you have the cash.
