Great, no nonsense pair of comfortable bib shorts

If you are after a plain, understated bib short to complement just about any top you throw on over it without breaking the bank, the Giro Chrono Sport could be just the dab. With one small radio (or whatever you choose!) pocket they are pretty short on features, just offering a wide mesh back and bibs holding up a lycra short and Elastic Interface branded chammy.

These beautifully made bib shorts actually sit at the bottom of the Giro Chrono range, so we would be very interested to see the top of the range - these are an excellent pair of bibs for the money. The open weave mesh bibs sat very well on the bike, staying comfortable and cool throughout any test rides, and even on a particularly energetic set of spin sessions.

There is one small pocket at the rear of the shorts which actually we found very helpful when wearing jerseys without pockets, as in the gym where it could be used for the locker key. Giro probably meant it as a radio pocket but as us mere mortals rarely need bike to car comms on our everyday training hacks, we were pleased to find a use for it.

The chammy was superbly comfortable over short and long rides, and the leg grippers were wide enough not to cut in while maintaining position heroically. You can't really ask a great deal more of a pair of bibshorts than that, and at £90 we felt they were very well priced for the quality and performance. A great, basic pair of bibs for your armoury.
