A great value, extremely weatherproof jacket for long days in the saddle
A little on the heavy and warm side for all year round use

A proper heavyweight of a waterproof, the Roam feels reassuringly solid as soon as you pull it on. It's 2 layer fabric and drop mesh liner are pretty much bomb proof, with a coarse, rugged feel to the outer that could certainly handle the odd thorn bush or light crash.

We largely used it in the winter months, and being lined and thick with a cosily high collar, this would definitely be its preferred conditions - summer months would likely see you overheated and sweating buckets in the only moderately breathable fabric. To combat this there are mesh, covered vents across the shoulders and all the entry points - cuffs, collar and hem - are easily adjustable on the fly. Working all of these options did keep moisture to a minimum when we were hacking along.

Fit is comfortable, with plenty room underneath to layer up where necessary without having acres of excess fabric and the hood is strictly an under-helmet number with volume adjustment and a semi-stiffened peak.

As Madison suggest, this is a jacket that is at home down the pub as it is on the bike. Looks wise it certainly gets away with it, with no reflectives or tight fitting cut to suggest its origins, and the matt grey fabric on ours would have blended in anywhere. A steal for the money, as long as you have an alternative for the warmer months.
