Coffee press!
Not quite big enough to cook a 'proper' meal on

The Lite+ Stove from Primus is part of their ETA series of stoves.

Primus stoves with ETA technology are able to achieve up to 80% burning efficiency against a conventional stove which might have an efficiency rate of around 40%. This means less gas to carry and quicker boil times.

It achieves these efficiency levels through the use of a heat exchanger and integrated windshield.

In practice we found that you can boil a full pot (500ml on the Lite+) of water in just under 3 minutes in calm weather, this time goes up significantly in windy weather but the Lite+ deals with wind as well as the Jetboil or MSR equivalents.

Like the Jetboil or MSR equivalents the Lite+ is an integrated cooking system, the cup or pot connects to the burner through a clever locking mechanism unique to Primus. This, along with the foot supports which fit to the bottom of the gas canister, creates a stable base for cooking on. If you’re on really uneven ground Primus have been thoughtful enough in their design to include a suspending cord which can be used to hang the pot from a tree branch or similar.

The Lite+ is full of nifty little design features like this, another of note is the tiny screw in rods housed in the carry strap which, when attached allows you to use the stove with conventional pots and pans if you’re wanting to cook a more substantial meal.

The pot that comes with the Lite+ is big enough for a brew for two or a meal for one. The optional coffee press is a genius touch that will appeal to many especially as it adds so little weight to the package.

The heat resistant sleeve of the pot features a webbing handle which doubles up as the securing mechanism for the lid when the stove, and all its accessories, including gas, are all packaged up inside the pot.

Overall weight is 390g which is about the same as the Jetboil Flash but a little lighter than the MSR Reactor.

The quality of the stove is excellent thanks, I'm sure in part to the fact that Primus stoves are developed in the R&D department in Stockholm, made in Europe and fired up and tested before leaving the factory.

The price and features of the Lite+ are very similar to the competition on the face of it but we liked the quality and design touches of the Primus version enough to highly recommend it.
