The female-specific Danner Adrika is new for Spring 2018 and looks set to become a firm favourite with women looking to explore outdoors.

If you fancy yourself as a bit of an outdoor hipster who's into craft beer and flannel shirts, then Portland-based Danner are the brand for you. Established in 1932, the Danner family have been making hiking, work, hunting, lifestyle and military boots for generations of Americans and have developed a cult following amongst those in the know.

The new Adrika hiking boot embodies what the brand is about - traditional styling with real practical application. Designed to take you off road and onto the trail, the Adrika is a perfect companion for low level outdoor exploration rather than a hardcore high mountain performer.

The focus here is on comfort and fit and the Adrika feels like a soft, plush hiking boot thanks to the rich suede uppers and removable ortholite footbed. Designed for use on urban trails and everyday wear, the low profile fit of the lightweight Adrikas minimises any unnecessary bulk or features that are superfluous to requirements when travelling in low key terrain.

Style is an important part of the Danner brand and so it comes as no surprise that the Adrika is a good looking, yet thankfully not overtly feminine boot. The red laces are reminiscent of traditional hikers and the tan suede is reminiscent of that old urban/outdoor crossover favourite, the Timberland boot.

Style and comfort may be the priority but the Adrikas are no fraud when it comes to key outdoor-specific features. Whilst they're unlikely to stand up to the demands of snow and ice the Adrikas are more than a match for the wet - which comes as no surprise considering they were born in the notoriously rainy Pacific Northwest.

The Danner Dry 100% waterproof liner ensures feet stay dry on rainy hikes while the gusseted tongue helps keep water and trail debris on the outside. The outsole comes with multi directional lugs that provide surprisingly good grip in the wet but we wouldn't recommend taking the Adrikas out in ankle deep mud. Keep them for the low level hikes and pub walks and you'll be on point.
