Meet Keen's latest hiking boot offering - the Terradora II. This good-looking hiking boot follows Keen's popular Terradora, with a few added technical tweaks.

What impresses right out of the box is the comfort of the Terradora II - these lightweight and flexible boots feel as comfy to wear as your favourite trainers, and won't weigh you down even during long days on the trail. We found the boots fitted on the wider side, which is ideal if you find that traditional hiking boots tend to squeeze around your toes. And despite their high flexibility, the Mid version of the Terradora II boots gives great support around the ankle once laced up.

These handsome boots may be light, but they still pack a technical punch. As the 'WP' in their name suggests, the Terradora IIs are fully waterproofed using Keen's own-brand Keen Dry technology, and the mesh-like outer material can withstand a bit of rainfall but still remains highly breathable, so your feet won't overheat. The Terradora IIs have been upgraded from the original Terradora with a KonnectFit heel-capture system, which Keen claims gives a 'locked-in feel' - and we found the boots do definitely hold feet in place well on test, with no slipping or sliding about as you walk. We were also impressed by the reliable grip that the Terradora II offers - deep lugs and sticky rubber gives great grip even on slippy rocks and uneven ground.

It's hard to find any weakness in this excellent boot, but that lightweight mesh fabric doesn't offer enough warmth in cold conditions or when hiking in snow - you should pick a winter-specific boot for use in freezing temperatures, and use the Keen Terradora II for spring-autumn adventures. The Terradora II's high breathability and light weight also make it the perfect quiver-of-one boot for taking travelling, on a gap year or a backpacking trip.

Verdict: A versatile, supremely comfortable hiking boot, ideal for warmer weather and available at a decent price point. If you own a warm pair of winter walking boots and now want to invest in a wear-anywhere fabric hiking boot that's still waterproof, the Terradora II is a great choice. The Terradora II is also available as a low-cut trainer-style shoe, which would be ideal for warm summer hikes.
