A built-in camera - or two - on your phone is taken for granted these days with a forward-facing main camera and self-facing 'selfie' camera almost a given. The functionality of these cameras is pretty astounding too, with video, digital zoom, and a raft of digital effects for both taking the picture and processing it already built in.

But what your phone can't do on its own is offer the variety of focal lengths and image distorting effects that you get by having changeable lenses on an SLR. Until now that is - because changeable lenses for your phone are exactly what Olloclip makes.

As the name suggests, Olloclip 4-in-1 is actually four lenses: a fisheye, a wide-angle, as well as 10x and 15x macro lenses.

The Olloclip works by sliding it onto the corner of your iPhone, so that it stacks up on your camera lens. Take it off, turn it around and slide it on the other way and you get a different lens.

Unfortunately, with our test iPhone 5C the fit was incredibly tight, needing a seriously firm push to get the lens on - and even then the lens never looked as if it was centred or seated properly. This didn't seem to affect the resulting images but it did lead to a certain level of dissatisfaction.

The fit aside, the resulting photos are fun and dynamic - with the wide-angle lens squeezing at least one and half times as much landscape as a normal lens into the frame, The fisheye fits even more into the frame in its weird, spherical way.

Perhaps the most satisfying two lens options are the marcros, which are found by unscrewing the other lenses. Once you manage to master the technique of holding the phone the right distance from your object to get it in focus, it creates a shot with a wonderfully shallow depth of focus that an SLR camera with the appropriate lens would be proud of.

One downside to this 4-in-1 approach is that you need to put the various bits that you're not using somewhere safe while you take your shot. To this end there are little cinchable storage bags included but it's all in danger of being a bit fiddly when you're trying to quickly swap lenses around to get that elusive shot.

Apart from that, and the poor iPhone 5C fit, these are a beautifully made addition to any traveller's phone camera set up.
