The rechargeable air pump makes inflation a whole lot easier
Lack of insulation means they're best for warm weather use only

The guys at Aerobed have carved a niche out of the crowded bed market with their premium take on airbeds and now they've applied all of that technology and more to an outdoor certified bed.

The mattress pumps up via a rechargeable electric pump, which can be recharged via a wall plug or a cigarette lighter style charger. It takes a while to work out the unique valve system but once you do the pump gets the bed inflated in no time.

The coil system eliminates pressure points and the bed feels a lot more stable than a cheap airbed, making for a much more comfortable night's sleep. There are built-in pillows but if you've gone as far as buying this bed in the search of comfort it's worth complementing it with some decent pillows of your own.

With no built-in insulation the Aerobed was truly cold to sleep on during a frosty spring camping trip, and moving on to the back-up high-end thermal mattresses we immediately felt warmer. This experience confirmed that standard airbeds, although comfortable should be reserved for summer camping only.

At this price there are some very compelling self-inflating alternatives which are probably more suited to the British climate.
