On first contact we were instantly impressed with the thin, yet tough and stretchy material used to construct these Syncline shorts - capable feeling yet with a soft and pliable touch. Let's face it, the worst thing a pair of mountain bike baggy shorts can do is restrict movement, and with a great cut and that added stretch, we can testify they have performed admirably every ride so far - no drag or restriction anywhere. We hardly registered they were on when riding, and that is a great compliment for a 14 inch inseam pair of baggies.

Laser cut perforations around the inner leg and rear yoke helped with air flow through the milder days - the preferred conditions for these lightweight shorts - while we appreciated the velcro inner waist adjusters combined with chunky belt loops for a multitude of fit-tuning possibilities. They went on with the zip and twin popper fastening, and stayed on - no fuss.

Pocket-wise they are fairly minimalist, sporting only two zipped hip pockets, but then this keeps their weight and bulk to a minimum, helping with that airy light feel when riding.

Ours came with the excellent clip in Dakine padded liner, but the Syncline can be bought as a 'bare' short too, allowing you to use your own favourite inner short without added expense.
