Great design and build quality
‘Raw length’ legs a bit of a nuisance

The Abiskos are technical walking pants with stacks of well-thought out features and a really sound construction that will handle all sorts of abuse.

They utilise the company’s tough and stretchy G-1000 fabric, which combines high mobility and durability and works equally well whether you’re scrambling up a via ferrata or ambling along a gentle coastal path.

G-1000 is also treated with Greenland Wax to allow a reasonable degree of waterproofing as well as being breathable, windproof and UV-resistant.

The rear and knees are pre-shaped for additional comfort and the waist is lower in the front and higher in the back to fit comfortably when carrying a backpack. An extra piece of fabric in the crotch and the placement of the inseams decrease the risk of rubbing; you also get stretch panels in the lower back and G-1000 reinforcements at the rear, knees and leg endings.

Cleverly engineered features such as this make the Abisko one of the most comfortable pairs of walking trousers we have reviewed.

There are two zippered hand pockets designed to give easy access even when wearing a hip belt, along with a large cargo pocket with flap and a smaller mesh inner pocket on the right leg, and a small pocket for a mobile phone or GPS on the left leg.

Our only minor gripe with the Abisko was that the legs have a ‘raw length’ finish which means you have to cut them to length and stitch the hems yourself, but other than this they’re excellent (if pricey) walking trousers that will last for years.
