Whether road-racing or mountain biking, cycling pro or casual rider, there are trails and offers that caterto their needs, and those wanting to take a more laidbackapproach and hop on an e-bike will also get theirmoney’s worth.

 

Top Cycle routes:

Mozart Cycle Path

Distance: 450km

Elevation change: 5,300m in total

Plug in your Mozart playlist as you swing your way through SalzburgerLand and neighbouring Bavaria on this famous multi-stage route. Salzburg’s greatest son has left behind many traces in this area. The cross-border route leads you through Austria’s impressive Lake District, the famous Chiemsee Lake through the Inn Valley and along the Saalach and Salzach rivers back to the city of Mozart.

Tauern Cycle Path

Distance: 270km/310km

Elevation change: 600m/750m

One of the must-rides in SalzburgerLand. The picturesque trail – which offers two route options of 270 or 310km – starts at the breathtakingly beautiful Krimml waterfalls and winds along two of the region’s largest rivers, the Saalach and Salzach. It passes through the impressive Hohe Tauern Mountains, taking in more than 100 natural wonders, excursion destinations, hotels and inns.

  

Salzkammergut

Distance: 352km(northern loop: 234km)

Elevation change: approx 1,850m (northern loop approx 850m)

A wonderful route which takes in 13 of the most beautiful lakes in Austria, and which takes you through the most picturesque parts of the Alps. This path travels through the most varied parts of the Salzkammergut in Salzburg, Upper Austria and Styria, and ensures you take home with you a wealth of unforgettable experiences.

Alpe Adria Cycle Path

Distance: 410km

Elevation change: climb2,417m; descent 2,842m

This fairly new cycle path takes you from the city of Salzburg across the Alps to Grado on Italy’s Adriatic coast. It starts along the Salzach and the Gasteiner Ache rivers to the Tauern sluice from Böckstein to Mallnitz. A short train ride through a mountain tunnel takes you into Carinthia. Then you follow the banks of the rivers Möll, Drau and Gail down to the Italian border and finally on to Grado.

Bikepark Leogang

The Riders Playground features an extensive practice area that allows access to biking and downhill not only for kids. Master the Pump Track, the Rookie, Contessa and Greenhorn trails, and you can venture onto the Drop Line. Meanwhile, the Leogang Bike School with its special kids training is perfectly suited for novices. Lifts, trails, and rental equipment make the beginning of this sport child’s play.

Saalbach Hinterglemm

Young riders will love Saalbach Hinterglemm, gliding over the strips and waves of the Milka Line. This technically rather simple freeride route, with its 3km and 400m altitude, is ideal terrain for gravity newbies. The region offers 400km of routes divided between four mountains and hosts summer biking technique camps, ranging from multi-day workshops up to intensive training with professional coaching.

 

E-mountainbike region Hochkönig

E-Mountain biking has been growing steadily, and this region is a leader in E-Mobility. One of the highlights of almost 30 signposted tours is the 110km ii-Tour, with its panoramic views of the rock formations of the Hohe Tauern Mountains, Leogang Steinberge and the Steinernes Meer. For leisurely e-bikers, the Salzburg Harvest Festival is a great chance to enjoy regional culinary delights.
