Outdoors Magic actually tested the Stain Scrub a few months ago after an altercation with a blackberry bush (don’t ask), and can confirm, it’s a genuinely useful solution to the problem of modern jackets being much more prone to staining.
It’s specifically designed to remove marks safely, without stripping away any existing water-repellent treatments that might already be present. All you need to do is squeeze the bottle and brush at the stain, then put your garment into a washing machine along with some of Nikwax’s Tech Wash.
Not only will it restore your jacket to its former glory, it’ll also extend the lifetime of your gear. A win-win, really. We also like the fact that the solution doesn’t contain any eco-hazardous chemicals, and that it is solvent-free and water-based. The bottles are even made from recycled plastic and can be recycled too.
And Alpkit’s jacket? It’s got some awesome eco-credentials too. Featuring 100% recycled materials, a PFC-free durable water-repellant treatment, along with the fact that you can recycle it at the end of its life – there’s a lot to like here.
The Sigma is a 3-layer waterproof jacket made with a mono monomer construction. This means all the components are made from the same material which is what makes it easier to recycle later on down the line. It also features an impressive waterproof rating of 15,000 HH, a 10,0000 MVTR breathability rating, all in a surprisingly packable build for a 3-layer jacket.
Other handy features include, an adjustable hood, hem and cuffs, useful OS Map sized pockets and secure YKK Aquaguard zips. The cut is an active fit with a “rustle-free” design. Priced at £179.99 in store, how could you not enter?
