The new Beta LT jacket from Arc’teryx is a super lightweight shell featuring the new Gore-tex Pro fabric, which is claimed to have up to 28 per cent more breathablilty than previous Gore-tex Pro fabrics, as well as being more durable and of course waterproof.

This makes it ideal for fast and light travel in the hills in the warmer months, or it could be used as a winter shell with good layering underneath - so if you're looking for one minimalist style shell for all your activities in the hills the Beta LT is worth considering.

The light weight of the jacket (311g for a medium) means you can stuff it in your pack and forget about it until the weather stops playing ball.

And when the heavens open what you can then slip into is a trim fit, hip-length jacket with minimalist design which has all the features you need and none you don’t.

Amongst these are a helmet compatible hood with easy-to-use adjustments which rotates with your head so there are no blind spots, two zipped hand pockets and an internal zipped pocket plus Velcro adjustable cuffs and adjustable hem.

Simple, lightweight, hard wearing and good looking – that about sums up the Beta LT.
