The Windstopper element really does fend of chilly draughts
Not quite as comfortable as a soft Merino, but not far off

There are times, especially after a long winter of wrapping up, that you want to cast off those rustly windproof outer layers and just ride, free of restrictions and cumbersome clothing. Of course the weather can have other ideas, stubbornly refusing to warm up quickly enough.

This is where the Baselayer Windstopper steps up - a baselayer with a twist. The entire front is Windstopper fabric, turning to mesh over the back and under the arms to promote breathability and prevent overheating. It could be the missing link between summer and winter wardrobes.

On the bike this combination or windproof and extremely breathable fabric works superbly, keeping icy wind from the chest and, for such a light and unassuming garment, adding massively to weather protection on the move.

As expected from Gore Bike Wear kit, the fit is superb. Although very snug it never feels restrictive, and being featherweight we regularly forget it is on - until the next draughty descent that is.

Perfect for cooler rides where a chill wind is cutting through our regular clothing, it just slips underneath any jersey, even close fitting ones, and adds that element of windproofing without trapping too much warmth. The mesh back vents heat and moisture very effectively and we rarely get uncomfortable with moisture or heat building up.

A cracking piece of kit unlike any other baselayer. In fact the only time we won't use it is summer, where a cooling breeze across the chest is generally a welcome part of the day!
