The Odlo Air is an extremely light - but pricey - soft shell jacket; check out our review here.

Light and unobtrusive in use
Expensive

The Odlo Air is so light you hardly notice you’re wearing it, and the fully waterproof/windproof and breathable Gore-tex Paclite fabric ensures you stay dry in the worst summer storms.

The plain and effective design features laser-cut slash pockets on the sides with autolock zips, adjustable hem with drawcord, Velcro-adjustable cuffs, a chin guard and an invisible cord lock system for the hood adjustment, whilst the men’s version has an additional pocket on the chest (not big enough for a map unfortunately).

The jacket packs away easily when not in use and if budget isn’t a major consideration the Air is a really good option for summer hiking (and it could be used for warmer weather skiing and boarding too) which is hard to fault.
