The Anchorage is a men’s winter parka style jacket with a removable inner thermal liner.

The headline figures for this jacket are impressive – a waterproof rating of 8000mm and breathable to 5000gm. In use, with the thermal liner attached the jacket is certainly toasty and warm in cold conditions during very light activity. But it’s as soon as you ramp up the intensity that the breathability comes into question and you find yourself soon having to remove the liner.

The cuffs of the liner are of a smaller diameter than the sleeves which does a great job of helping to retain warmth, but also makes getting your hand out a bit of a struggle. In our test jacket this resulted in a broken inner tab (the tab that holds the cuff of the liner in place) within a week or so of wearing.

The seams of the jacket are taped for extra protection from the rain and the large storm flap fends the rain off for a while. In sustained use in heavy downpours you might start to feel moisture creeping in around the zips, but in fairness you wouldn’t expect to see waterproof zips on a jacket of this type.

The pockets are vast enough to store a micro-adventure’s worth of kit but there are no inner pockets for safely storing maps or phones away from the elements, which could be a deal breaker for some.

It's worth noting that although the RRP on the jacket is £200 it's widely available for around £80 including on Tog24's own website - at this price it's a pretty decent option for staying warm and dry around town or for gentle Sunday strolls in the local countryside due to it's versatile nature.
