The Survival Bivi from Terra Nova is a waterproof sleeping bag cover, or 'bivi bag', and as the name suggests is designed as an essential piece of survival equipment for the great outdoors.

The Survival Bivi has a minuscule pack size, being about as big as a 500ml water bottle, and weighs in at a paltry 340 grams. This makes it easy to chuck in your backpack and forget until you need it, making it ideal for carrying as emergency protection when out walking.

Being fully waterproof this bag gives you 360 degree protection from the elements with the obvious exception of the hood which has a drawcord adjuster allowing you to cinch it down over your head in bad weather. If you use the Survival bivi properly and make sure you don't get too sweaty in your sleep or breathe inside it you'll see only minimal condensation building up ensuring you don't get wet from the inside out.

Size wise the Survival Bivi is a snug fit if you're over 6ft and there's no large option available so for regular use we'd probably recommend looking for something roomier if that's you.

The price of the Survival bivi bag is excellent at £75 and the performance overall is decent, we just wish it was roomier. If you're of more diminutive dimensions then the Survival Bivi may well be your ideal wild camping and hill walking companion.
