First impressions of the Merrell Moab shoes are of a smart looking, high quality walking shoe. The fit is slightly tight when wearing heavy weight walking socks so we would recommend using mid-weight socks or trying a half-size larger shoe.

They're fully waterproof thanks to the Goretex lining as well as breathable due to the soft mesh outer, and we found the Moabs performed well on both fronts during a hot, stormy summer walking trip to Catalonia.

The Moabs are lightweight and the Vibram sole delivers good grip, feeling capable of tackling most terrain and taking on long distances. A caveat to this is that we found the Moabs stiff from new, taking a bit of time to break-in.

The only other point to note is double-knotting the laces is a must, as they undo themselves easily!

Overall the Merrell Moabs are comfy, effective walking shoes with a high build quality that is reflected in the price.
