Full suspension 29ers are well known as being trail munchers, covering ground with a combination of large wheels rolling easily over small rocks and roots, and the suspension soaking up the rest. It all works efficiently together to keep you trucking along, smoothing out the terrain on the way.

The Neuron 6.0 is a very affordable path into this genre, coming in at less than £1500 for what is a very impressively specced bike indeed. The all-aluminium chassis uses some of the geometry and construction lessons that have bled down from further up the Canyon range, resulting in a frame that you'll be happy to upgrade should the need present itself.

Rock Shox Recon RL forks and a Fox Performance DPS LV shock provide the suspension elements, already hinting at the great value of the Neuron, but when you consider the excellent Shimano SLX/XT 2x11 drivetrain and hydraulic disks (albeit slightly lower range) then it's difficult to see where any corners have been cut to achieve the keen price. Add into the mix an internally routed Iridium dropper post and some quality Mavic rims, and it altogether becomes a very appealing package.

Of course, the Canyon direct sales model makes this all possible so there are no showrooms in which to peruse for your next purchase, but nail down your criteria, get your research right and you could be staring down the forks of a veritable bargain.

Verdict: A very capable, competitively priced, full suspension bike with bang up to date geometry and components.
