If you’re looking for a pair of lightweight summer walking trousers that fit just right, the NosiLife Pro Active trousers from Craghoppers could be the perfect thing for you.

First, let’s talk about what they’re made of. The NosiLife Pro Active trousers have a one-layer construction of a durable but very lightweight fabric that stays breathable, while still offering UPF 40+ protection from the sun with their SolarShield technology. We find this extremely useful when out and about in the Summer. Is there anything worse than the feeling of trousers sticking to suncreamed legs?

These trousers also feature Craghoppers’ excellent NosiLife treatment to defend against biting insects which is a great thing to have in all kinds of places from jungles to moors and wherever else you choose to roam.

One of the standout features of the NosiLife Pro Active trousers is the amazing freedom of movement thanks to the stretch material and close, European-style fit. Have no fear of splitting seams when scrambling across scree slopes or areas pulling tight as you hop over stiles. You can nearly forget your wearing these almost legging-style trousers, and we certainly rate the comfort factor.

We know that this very close fit won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but we’d say that the figure-hugging cut of the trousers is fairly flattering. No baggy bottoms here!

Another thing we personally like about the fit of these trousers is the two elastic panels on either side of the waistband which help to ensure a snug fit without the need for a belt or cincher.

They are a little sparse on the pocket front, with just two zipped front pockets, one of which contains a small internal RFID pocket, just the right size for a credit card or driving license to slide into. So slim pickings, but the whole point of these trousers is to be light and fluid. Difficult to achieve if weighed down with pockets full of bric-a-brac.

The NosiLife Pro Active trousers come in two colours, Blue Navy and Woodland Green. We really like the option of a blue here, as, in our opinion, too many walking trousers seem to stick just to brown/beige/khaki colour choices.

For our male readers, Craghoppers also make a men’s version of these fantastic trousers which are similar but with the addition of belt loops instead of a partly elasticated waistband, five pockets instead of three and cost £80.

Overall, the Craghoppers NosiLife Pro Active trousers are streamlined, minimalist and instantly comfortable, while still offering valuable protection from biting bugs and UV rays. A great choice for avid summer hikers.
