In the colder months of the year you’ll almost certainly need a lightweight jacket if you’re out running, and this option from Silva is just the job. It’s just as good for cycling and mountain biking too.

Not only does the Silva protect from wind and rain but the various high-vis panels and piping on the jacket ensure you can be seen on gloomy days and, of course, at night, making your runs or rides near roads much safer.

The jacket has two large high-vis panels and there’s also reflective print along the zipper, on the back and on the sleeves, so you can be seen from pretty much any angle.

In terms of fit, the Silva has a close but not restrictive fit, with large mesh panels on the back and on the sides to disperse heat.

You get a decent sized zipped pocket in the tail, which cyclists and mountain bikers in particular are likely to find useful, plus a smaller zipped pocket on the chest. Other useful features include a cable loop on the outer collar and an earphone loop inside the collar, along with a nice soft microfleece lining, elasticated cuffs and a drawstring hem.

The whole lot easily packs away, and it also looks pretty stylish, so we liked it a lot.
