We review Smartwool's PhD Outdoor Light Crew socks - great for summer

Overall Score
Comfy and light, great for summer use
A bit pricey

The Smartwool PhD Outdoor Light Crew is ideal if you're hiking in the kind of weather we're having at the moment since it's light and not too thick so fits well in lighter footwear such as trail shoes and trainers.

Strategically placed mesh ventilation zones also provide useful ventilation in warmer weather as well as reducing problems of sweaty feet.

On top of that they come with 'Reliawool Technology' which adds to the durability of the heel and toe, whilst Smartwool's '4-Degree Elite Fit System' keeps the socks in place.

You don't always need traditional thick wool socks for hiking and trekking, and these socks are great proof of that.
