Low profile and super comfortable, the OUTline GTX is a seriously versatile light hiking shoe that can be worn on the commute into the office, out on the trail for a post-work blast and back in the pub at the end of the day.

A genuine chameleon, the OUTline GTX is destined to appeal to the rapidly growing numbers of outdoor enthusiasts who like to bring an off the beaten track style into their everyday life.

Whilst the OUTline GTX is an accessible shoe that's undeniably been designed to appeal to the masses, it's still a legit technical performer that packs a fair punch on the features front.

Yes it's light, super flexible and mega comfortable, but it's also fully waterproof thanks to the GORE-TEX membrane. The synthetic upper has been constructed to keep the trail on the outside where it belongs with an anti-debris mesh and protective mudguard.

We normally avoid waterproof protection in our trail running shoes as the combo of speed and the inevitable reduced breathability that comes with these technologies can lead to sweaty, hot feet. That said, it's absolutely relevant and 100% welcome in a light hiker such as the OUTline GTX. Knowing that you can stride out on your lunch break in all weathers and not have to worry about wet feet when you're back at your desk is absolutely key.

Out on the trail, the OUTline GTX offers a dependable, stable ride. Grip is impressive for a light hiker thanks to the deep spaced lugs that worked well on our local muddy trails. We haven't had a chance to try the shoes in dry, loose terrain yet so will have to report back on that front.

One area that particularly impressed was the OUTline GTX's Contagrip sole that's clearly been built to last. Many modern-day fast and light-oriented shoes have the life span of a gnat and so it's good to see that the relatively expensive OUTline GTX has been designed to endure beyond one season of use.

All in all the OUTline GTX is a great shoe that's undeniably fit for purpose, if you're after a sporty looking general purpose light hiker then the OUTline may be the one for you.
