Overall Score
Superb quality, superb fit

These are lovely, top quality boots incorporating Scarpa’s ‘ActiveFit’ technology which has the last, sole, footbed and ergonomic design working in unison to give instant comfort in a boot that actually looks like it might be initially rather stiff.

You get excellent support and stability, which is aided by foam inserts in the heel area. The deep and aggressively lugged Vibram soles provide confidence-building stability on everything from loose rock to wet grass, and they’re also C1 crampon-compatible.

In use the SL Activ has an easy, rolling gait and provides top levels of comfort right through from toes to heels and ankles, and the high quality one-piece leather uppers are protected by a rubber rand that runs all the way round the boot apart from the heel.

Yes, these are pricey boots, but build quality, performance and looks are all first rate and for anyone who is serious about their winter walking the SL Activ has to be worth checking out.
