The US region is well known for its fantastic fall foliage show every autumn; however, many travellers from around the US and the world also flock to New England in the summer for a relaxed, sun-drenched, fun-filled holiday.
Among the holiday activities available are whale-watching and lobster boat fishing in Maine, a boat and bike tour of the charming Thimble Islands, in Connecticut – a hiding place of the 17th century pirate Captain Kidd; hiking and biking, salt-water fishing, camping, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, surfing, skiing, horseback riding and birding in Rhode Island.
You can also visit the Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream factory in Vermont and learn how childhood friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield set up their ice cream empire.

If the old English summer got off to a damp start, maybe a New England one can do better.
