Held over one weekend between 20-22 March, the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival – or Shaff for short – screens over 100 films varying in length from two minute shorts to feature length epics, covering a huge range of stories and sports.

Based at the Showroom Cinema – the biggest independent cinema outside London – and a the Pennine Lecture Theatre at Sheffield Hallam University, the festival has grown year on year.

2015 promises to be even bigger and better with yet another great line up of films presented in high definition, plus exciting headline lectures from the worlds of running, mountain biking and climbing, art and photography exhibitions, a big second-hand kit sale where you can bring your own clobber to sell, competitions, a cracking live music line up in the bar, and plenty more besides.

There will also be top ski, surf and kayak movies, plus high-octane Adrenaline Shorts, inspiring ‘Spirit of Adventure’ shows and family-friendly Young Adventurer and Teen Screens.

Film range from the 8-minute long 500 Miles to Nowhere about an elite group of paragliders who attempt an unsupported vol-bivvy across the Rockies (facebook.com/cloudbasecollective), to stunt bike rider Danny Macaskill’s death-defying ride along the notorious Cullin Ridge on a mountain bike (dannymacaskill.co.uk), and Finding Traction, the 57-minute story of ultra runner Nikki Kimball’s quest to become the fastest person to run America’s 273-mile Long Trail (findingtractionfilm.com)

Tickets will be on sale late January and need to be bought from the showroom website showroomworkstation.org.uk or by calling the box office on 0114 275 7727.

As Sir Ranulf Fiennes says on the Shaff website, “Unless you’re on top of Everest, there are few better places to be on a March weekend.”
