The Big Outdoor Show (May 23-25) Willen Lake, Milton Keynes has just announced a new attraction for visitors to see; The Exotic Animal Encounter. Families will have the chance to meet animals they would ordinarily only see within the confines of a zoo.

Animals like meerkats, raccoons, foxes, snakes and reptiles will be on display throughout the show but, at certain times, some will be brought out of their enclosures for the public to get up close and personal with. The handlers will reveal how people can learn to love, protect and enjoy these amazing creatures in the future.

Kelly Bates from The Exotic Animal Encounter says: “Children absolutely love the chance to touch these animals. People rarely come face to face with the sort of creatures they normally only see in the zoo. We focus on education and enrichment in all our talks, covering various parts of the curriculum, from natural habitats to nocturnal creatures and our shows are engaging for audiences of all ages.”

The Exotic Animal Encounter is just the latest attraction to be announced for the show. Other draws include talks from explorers like Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who only last weekend completed the gruelling Marathon des Sables, and Felicity Aston. There will also be breathtaking displays from The Action Sports Tour and demonstrations in water rescue from Ellie Bedford and her Newfoundland dog team.

Show organiser Pauline Gibson says: “Having The Exotic Animal Encounter agree to coming to the show adds another dimension in educating and inspiring people about the great outdoors and I for one am really excited about being able to touch some of the animals I’ve only ever seen before in cages.”
